Danika Bannasch
Professor and Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Education
Dr. Bannasch is a veterinary geneticist whose research focus is understanding the molecular basis of inherited diseases in dogs and horses. Dr. Bannasch’s laboratory has identified the causative variant for 17 inherited diseases in dogs and horses and collaborated on the identification of 8 more. Her research goals are to improve the lives of dogs through understanding the relationship between their genetic variation and the resulting phenotypes.

Leslie Nemeth
Department Manager
Leslie serves as the Department Manager and advisor to the Associate Dean, providing strategic planning and development, leadership, financial oversight and planning, organizational development, and supervision to the unit. She provides oversight and management of both intramural and extramural research funding programs housed within the unit including Center for Food Animal Health and the Pacific Southwest Center for Vector-borne Diseases.
